Meeting The Aging Population Challenge in Regional Areas

Australia like many other developed nations is facing an economic challenge rarely before seen in history - an aging population. A greater proportion of Australia’s population are now or soon to be in need of services that support them in their daily lives.

The Aged Care Roadmap released by the Federal Health Department calls out the need for ‘use of digital and electronic supports for the workforce to improve productivity and consumer choice, particularly in regional, rural and remote areas’

Regional and remote areas are often under-catered for with respect to support services and other services that may be made available to those in metro areas. The NDIS may have registered service providers in the metro areas that provide services similar to those offered by private businesses in rural areas, however those services in rural areas may not be eligible or willing to connect with the NDIS.
